Dear
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I
want to send you greetings once again, in the precious name of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ, from the country of Honduras. We are all thankful to know the One who sees
the end from the beginning, speaking about spiritual matters or politics. We know that our God is in complete control. As we hear the news of this old world, one is
left speechless. There is fear, to some
extent, on all sides. Not knowing what
is going to happen in this next election is upon the minds of many people. The big question now is, “For whom do we
vote?” What do Christians do, when there
is no one in whom we can have some degree of confidence? Clinton, Barack Hussein Obama,
McCain, or the rock playing ex-Baptist preacher… Only in God can we truly place our
confidence, and in no one else. We know
that God will place in the White House the one whom He chooses, and we will
pray for that one to be saved and to lead our country right.
This
past month, I have preached at Sovereign
God Baptist
Church in San Pedro Sula, as
well as in the mission in Jesús de Otoro. The Word went forth, and we pray that it
finds lodging in the hearts and minds of God’s people. We pray that the lost people who were in the
assemblies were touched by the hand of God; and that through the working of the
Holy Spirit and His drawing power they will be brought to repentance and faith
in Jesus Christ. It has been some time
now since we have seen the salvation of one of God’s elect in our
services. What a joy it is to see the
Lord’s working in the midst of His churches!
Bro. Roberto Manzanares
sent a letter to the Sovereign
God Baptist
Church, saying that he
does not feel the leading of the Holy Spirit to come and pastor this
church. This is an answer to prayer, as
we desire the Lord’s leading in the matter.
Continue to pray with us for both the church and also the pastor which
God has for this flock.
During
this past month, one of our older sisters in the church went home to be with
the Lord. Sister Donatila was one of the first members in the Gran Villa
Baptist Church
which was started by Brother Lauerman in the eighties. From there, she moved to another area of San Pedro with her son’s family, and a new church was
started there, the Llanos de Sula Baptist
Church. She was a faithful member for years, but
again she had to move with her son’s family to yet another area. That is where we started the Sovereign God Baptist
Church. She was always very faithful in each of these
churches, even though several years ago, she lost most of her hearing. I bought a listening device last year, which
helped her listen to the preaching of the word of God. Four of us men from the sister churches
helped in the funeral service, leading in prayer, preaching the Word of God,
and leading in the singing of hymns with her family and friends.
The Baptist Church in Llanos de Sula
has been making good progress on their church building. The first Saturday in January was the first
time to hold the monthly church fellowship meeting in their partially finished
new building. It was a joy for them, as
well as the rest of us. The first
building was a converted house with a low ceiling, and was very hot and closed
in. They built around the old building,
which now takes in the whole lot, and raised the roof. When they destroyed the old block walls, they
used them for fill to raise the level of the floor. Several years ago, they bought the lot next
door, where they are building the Sunday School
classrooms and bathrooms. It will be
nice when it is finished. They still
lack the floor, which right now is gravel and dirt, as well as the electrical
system, and plumbing for the bathrooms.
They
have used their own tithes and offerings for the new construction, and the Sovereign God Baptist
Church has given them
special offerings toward the building.
We have also been enabled to help them with part of the special love
offering sent in November 2006 to help with the roof replacements for several
church buildings, etc. They still need
about $5000 dollars to finish the building project. Pray that God will supply this need.
I
just finished building 16 new (9 foot, 8 inch) church pews for this
church. I had to hire a brother, who is
without work, to help in the shop. He is
a new brother in Christ, and has been a big help in
this project. The Lord willing, they
will be delivered this week, on Friday.
I’m not able to do it all any more.
For some reason, this 58 year old body just does not respond like it
used to.
We
are in the process of printing, collating, stapling, and folding five new
tracts for all the churches. It is the
folding which bothers my hands causing them to cramp so bad. A folding machine is a need for the work
here.
I
want to especially thank Grace Missionary Baptist
Church in Frankfort,
KY, Pastor Lonnie Bennett,
for the $1000 offering for the church building in Mexico. Another $2200 is still needed to finish their
roof. Also, a special thank you to
Indore Baptist Church in Indore, WV, Pastor Paul Stepp, for the $1000 offering
toward the a temporary meeting house in Jesús de Otoro. $4000 is
still needed.
Thanks
to each and every one of you, for your concern and love for missions. Only the Lord knows how the rewards will be
given out for what is done for Him, and we are conscious that you are working
together with us in His vineyard. There
is much work to be done. May we be
diligent to go to “all nations,” including our own families, friends, and
neighbors! Thanks so much for your
kindness to us. Your faithful monthly
support, special offerings, prayers, cards, and letters are very much
appreciated. Thanks again!
Your
brother in Christ,
Ted Tweet
